Roundtable Meetings

The Southern Prairie District hosts it’s monthly Round Table Meeting on the first Thursday of each month at the Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church from 7:00-8:15 PM.

The meeting is designed to help provide information of upcoming events for all Cub Scout & Scouts BSA volunteers within the Southern Prairie District. A Zoom link is also available for those who prefer.

The Southern Prairie District Committee

The Southern Prairie Committee is made up of many adult volunteers who strive to provide exceptional leadership and events for the youth in the Council. 

By serving over 1,200 youth in the District, are always looking for additional volunteers to help provide the Scouting program for more youth in the future.

The Southern Prairie District Unit Commissioners

As commissioners of the Southern Prairie District, we share the BSA’s mission: To prepare youth to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Our vision is to allow every member of the BSA has a great Scouting experience. 

The Southern Prairie Commissioners Meeting takes place 45 minutes before the Roundtable meeting.

Overview
Available to registered Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level.

Who Can Earn This Award?
Presented to registered adult volunteers by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is, as a national award presented by councils; it is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this award.

How to submit the Award?
Anyone may nominate any deserving registered Scouter to the District, which selects recipients for the following year. All District Award of Merit Nomination Forms must be submitted to the Council Service Center by no later than on:

    • Southern Prairie District: December 1st of the current calendar year.

The Southern Prairie’s Distinguished Scouter of the Year Award was created in 2006 and was awarded to Rev. Edwin Hancock who was an outstanding Scouter in the Southern Prairie District. This award will be announced during the Southern Prairie District Annual Adult Recognition Dinner.

Overview
To recognize registered Scouters of exceptional character who have provided distinguished service within the Hawkeye Area Council.

Who Can Earn This Award?
Presented by the National Court of Honor on behalf of the Hawkeye Area Council.

How to submit the Award?
Anyone may nominate any deserving registered Scouter to the Council, which selects recipients for the following year. All Silver Beaver Nomination Forms must be submitted to the Council Service Center by no later than on December 15th of the current calendar year.
