Citizenship Day

UPDATE: Due to scheduling conflicts with the Grant Pilgrimage, HAC has decided to postpone this event so that more Scouts have the opportunity to attend. Please take the poll below to determine when this event should be held:

Hawkeye Area Council is piloting a new Merit Badge-earning event to give Scouts more opportunities to work on the Eagle-required Citizenship badges AND to bring more awareness about Scouting to our Eastern Iowan community. Our open to the public community fair runs 9am to 12pm (noon), and for our Scouts, check out one of our Citizenship classes to start checking off requirements!

If you are a University of Iowa student organization, non-profit, or local business, and you are interested in tabling at the community fair, please follow the link below:

About the Citizenship Classes:

  • If you are a Merit Badge Counselor and are looking to help out with this event, please contact Amanda Speidel at Amanda.Speidel@Scouting.org. We are in need of Citizenship in the Nation and Citizenship in the World help.
  • All three Citizenship classes will be offered at this event. Scouts may sign up for ONE of the classes, as they run simultaneously.
  • Each class will have prerequisites and there is no guarantee on badge completion if these prerequisites are not met prior to class time.
  • Initial classes are scheduled to run in the afternoon, from noon to 3pm.
