Registration is open for the Northern Lights District Scouts BSA Fall Camporee at Jones County Central Park on October 1-3rd. Dean Slyter and his team are putting together a great program that your troops will not want to miss. The District Scouts BSA Fall Camporee is open to all Scouts BSA troops in the Hawkeye Area Council.
This year’s camporee is being held in conjunction with a Webelos Woods on Saturday. All Webelos / Arrow of Light (4th and 5th grade) dens are encouraged to register to participate in activities put on by troops and see what it is like to be in a scout troop. Many of the activities will count toward Webelos adventures. To be clear, this event in not for our kindergarten to 3rd grade dens.Â
Units can register using the link below. You can pay online or pay in person by selecting the $0 down payment option and paying at the council office. More details are on the registration page as well. We hope to see you there!

Roundtables occur on the first Thursday of every month and are open to all volunteers.Â
Our next Roundtable will be on October 7th at the Marion Methodist Church from 7:00-8:15pm and on Zoom. Roundtable is one of the best ways to stay informed of what is happening in our district and council. We encourage all adult leaders to attend.

It is a busy time of year with fall recruitment and popcorn sales underway. Due to poor attendance, BALOO, IOLS, and the STEAM event at HHCSR over the weekend of September 17-18. There will be BALOO and IOLS at camp in the Spring.Â
Keep recruiting! We had a great turnout for our Scout Nights in the Park. It was exciting to see so many new families interested in Cub Scouts. Thanks to everyone who provided activities for the youth at these events.

National has a series of webinars focusing on membership. The next one is focused on recruiting for Scouts, BSA troops on September 30th.

This year’s selling season is September 1st through November 5th. Check out the popcorn page for all the materials you need for a successful sale.

Calling all new and current Cub Scouts! The Family Cub Camporee is a chance for whole families to enjoy the Scouting experience and camp at the Howard H. Cherry Scout Reservation on Saturday, October 16th. While at the event, Scouts and their families will get a taste of what Cub Scouting offers through shooting sports, games, crafts, hikes, climbing, campfires, and more while spending quality time together.
For families who just registered this fall, the registration fee will be waived by the office. These families can select the $0 down payment option. The office will keep track of new Scouts and waive the fee.
As you plan your Scouting year, remember that there are multiple facilities, camping equipment, and programs you can rent at Howard H. Cherry Scout Reservation. The new online reservation system has a menu of items you can reserve at camp.
