The E-newsletter of the Northern Lights District, August 2021
This summer, the Hawkeye Area Council reorganized into two districts. Our district volunteers have been working hard to better serve the units in our area. To learn more about our district and to contact one of our volunteers, check out our district web page. Be sure to join our Facebook group to stay up-to-date on what is going on in our district. Finally, the council map has been updated to include the locations of the units in the district.
Our first Roundtable of the new Northern Lights District will be on September 2nd at the Marion Methodist Church from 7:00-8:15pm. There will be a Zoom link available for those who wish to join from home. Roundtable is one of the best ways to stay informed of what is happening in our district and council. We encourage all adult leaders to attend.
Be sure you have everything you need for a strong fall recruitment. Several resources are available at the council office including customized flyers and posters. The online form below can be emailed to the office to order various supplies. The form also asks for dates of your pack recruitment nights and ask if you would like geofencing. Geofencing is simply allowing the council to pay for Facebook ads for up to 2 of your recruitment events. They will be advertised around your pack’s meeting location, or wherever you like. Also, if you have let the council know of your recruitment nights, our district volunteers would love to be there to help spread the word about the positive impacts of Scouting.
There are multiple incentive programs available to packs and individuals this year. See the requirements as well as other helpful recruitment best practices using the the link below.
This year’s selling season is September 1st through November 5th. Check out the popcorn page for all the materials you need for a successful sale.
Save the Date for the District Fall Camporee this October 1-3 at Jones County Central Park. Webelos Woods is a great opportunity for Webelos to get to know various troops in the area as they plan to bridge over. More information to come.
Register below for several adult leader training opportunities coming up in September at Howard H. Cherry Scout Reservation.
